Violette Diserens (Swiss, 1888-1965)


Violette Diserens was born on June 2 in Lausanne, Switzerland. She studies at the Ecole de dessin in Lausanne, then at the Académie Julian in Paris, later becoming a teacher herself at the Ecole cantonale de dessin in Lausanne. She was a member of two artistic groups:the Société suisse des femmes peintres et sculpteurs et décoratrices (SSFPSD) and the society of Swiss engravers. She is well-known for her rich and colourful landscapes and figurative works as well as her fine etchings and graphic work.
