Gerald Rose (British, b. 1935)

Gerald Rose was born in Hong Kong where he spent much of his childhood. He studied at Lowestoft School of Art and the RA schools. Frustrated by the dearth of good illustrated books for children, along with his wife Elizabeth, the pair wrote and illustrated a number of books. In 1960, he won the Kate Greenaway Award for Old Winkle and the Seagulls' and the Premio Critici in Erba, 1979 for Ahhh said Stork.
