Norman Thelwell (British, 1923-2004)


Norman Thelwell (British, 1923-2004) lived and worked in Hampshire. After serving in the Army during WW2, he studied at the Liverpool College of Art. He contributed over 1,500 drawings to Punch over 25 years. He became renowned for his hilariously British and all too apt illustrations and stories of "horse mad" girls and their ponies, publishing over 20 titles in the series.
